Next Chapter AI — Ethical AI Usage Policy
At Next Chapter AI, we believe publishing’s future is human.
AI accelerates our work, but it never replaces our expertise, creativity, or judgment.
We use AI to reduce burnout, clarify complexity, and increase access — not to imitate, mislead, or erase human craft.
Our commitment is simple:
Humans lead.
AI accelerates.
Craft stays human.
Drudgery goes to the machines.
How We Use AI
We use AI in ways that support clarity, speed, accessibility, and innovation, including:
Drafting & Formatting Support
- First-pass outlines and content drafts
- Summaries of long research materials
- Structural suggestions
- Copy variations for testing
- Metadata assistance
All final content is human-edited, shaped, and approved.
Visual Exploration
- Conceptual mockups
- Diagram ideas
- Thought-leadership visuals
We do not use AI to fabricate real people or replace human illustrators for narrative artwork.
Audio & Video Efficiency
- Audio cleanup
- Captioning
- Script assistance
- AI avatars with explicit disclosure
We never misrepresent AI-generated likenesses as live footage.
Operational Workflows
- Inbox routing
- Project management assistance
- Meeting summaries
- Data synthesis
- Efficiency automations
These tools do not influence our editorial decisions or creative voice.
How We Do Not Use AI
- Replace human expertise, creativity, or judgment
- Generate or imitate human likenesses without consent
- Fabricate expertise or human experience
- Produce sensitive or identity-centered content
- Autonomously publish content without human approval
- Mislead audiences about what is AI-generated
Our values require transparency where it matters, and efficiency where it’s safe.
Our Transparency Standards
We disclose AI involvement when:
- A reasonable audience could mistake AI output for a live human (e.g., avatars, synthetic voices)
- Content represents someone’s likeness, voice, or identity
- AI-generated visuals are used as final deliverables
- AI meaningfully shapes the emotional experience of a product
We may disclose AI involvement when:
- Content is AI-accelerated but fully human-written
- Summaries, drafts, or formatting tools were used
We do not disclose operational or back-end automations that do not influence meaning or representation.
Ethical Guardrails
Our work follows six non-negotiables:
- Consent — No likeness or voice replication without explicit permission.
- Credit — Humans are credited for their work.
- Context — We provide nuance around what AI can and cannot do.
- Control — Humans make all final decisions.
- Clarity — We avoid misleading representations.
- Craft — Human creativity remains the center of everything we produce.
Next Chapter AI exists to build a publishing future that is ethical, sustainable, and brilliantly human.
We use AI not to replace people but to empower them.
